In a futuristic Irish motel where people go to end their lives, a receptionist finds herself falling for a guest.

The Quiet Ocean was pitched to Screen Ireland as “Black Mirror meets Killinaskully”. In this dark, dystopian drama we meet Kansas, the receptionist of The Quiet Ocean hotel, who has the curious habit of trying to talk guests out of checking in. In her own words, everyone she talks out of checking in is, “a little more hope in the world.” Then comes a guest Kansas just can’t get a read on. Maria is carefree, comical and even a little cocky?

The Quiet Ocean was shot on location in Co. Wexford in April 2025 and is funded by the Screen Ireland Focus Shorts scheme.
